Lokyi Lai and Lenna Yeung join hands with participants at World Vision’s Barefoot Fun For Good to help children suffering from hunger

The Barefoot Fun For Good was held by World Vision Hong Kong (WVHK) at The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club today (18 February). Actor Mr Lokyi Lai and actress Ms Lenna Yeung Cheuk Na attended the event and officiated at the Opening Ceremony and Prize Presentation, joining hands with participants to raise funds for World Vision’s work in helping Somalian children and families suffering from hunger.

The Barefoot Fun For Good was organised by WVHK in association with The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club. Officiating guests of the Opening Ceremony and Prize Presentation included actor Mr Lokyi Lai; actress Ms Lenna Yeung Cheuk Na; Mr Huen Wong, Chairman of The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club; Mr Roger Yip, Chairman of Marina Committee, The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club; Mr Edmond Chan, Board Chair of WVHK; and Ms Amy Fung, Chief Executive Officer of WVHK.

Ms Amy Fung expressed her heartfelt thanks to The Clearwater Bay Golf &Country Club, all sponsors, and participants in making the event a success. She said, “After three years of the pandemic, we are finally able to participate in a physical event - a walkathon - together, raising funds for World Vision’s work in helping Somalian children and families in need by providing basic essentials to address their most pressing needs, and supporting them to work towards better lives over time.”

Mr Huen Wong, Chairman of The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club, said, “Ever since the event was first held in 2008, The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club has been fully supporting the Barefoot Walk initiative for 16 years, and the partnership between the Club and World Vision Hong Kong can be dated back to 2003. Family is one of the key pillars of the Club’s Community Outreach & Charity Programme. We are pleased to collaborate with World Vision again this year to bring love and care to the people in need.”

Before the Walk, the guests and the participants did a few warm-up exercises led by Taekwondo masters and students. Participants then walked for 4 km, some of them went barefoot for a section. A special “Little Corn Rescue” activity also took place along the route for the participants to save the hungry “Little Corn”, the official mascot of the event, and people from Somalia, helping to lift children and families out of chronic hunger.
