Emergency Relief

{loadposition article_list}

Irrespective of the nature of a disaster, precious lives and homes are often destroyed. Whether it is an unexpected natural disaster, or an on-going adversity caused by political instability, poverty or any other geographical factor; it is difficult for victims living in poverty to survive.

After a disaster strikes, World Vision responds immediately by launching short and long-term plans:

Short-term Plan

  • Provide food, water, tents, medical and other basic necessities required to meet the urgent needs of survivors
  • Provide psychological counselling for survivors in need to regain their confidence, and prepare them for any future challenge

Long-term Plan

  • Carry out rehabilitation projects in affected areas, helping people to regain their livelihoods and rebuild their communities
  • Plan for future response measures and mechanism in the most affected areas. This makes survivors more aware of disasters and could reduce casualties in future disasters.

World Vision has always been prudent in managing donations received through fund-raising. Administrative costs are strictly monitored. Over 90% of our funds raised are used directly to support our global relief and rehabilitation work in areas where World Vision staff is stationed to ensure appropriate use of funds and that implemented programmes are up to standard.
