  • Prayer Support for Emergency Relief

    In the early morning of 26 August 2026, severe flash floods and landslides struck areas along the Nepal-Tibet border. Within minutes, rushing waters swept away villages, roads, bridges, and power infrastructure, leaving countless families homeless and dramatically changing the lives of many children.

    Some children were unable to return home and reunite with their families after floodwaters destroyed bridges while they were at school. Schools and familiar surroundings were severely damaged, disrupting education and overturning the stability and security they once knew.

    World Vision is working closely with local authorities and partners to assess the needs of affected communities and prepare emergency assistance, including food, temporary shelter, clean water, hygiene supplies, and child protection support. Through these efforts, we seek to help children and families recover and rebuild their lives.

    We invite you to stand in prayer with the children and families of Nepal during this difficult time. You may also support the "Protect Vulnerable Children" programme to provide affected families with food, safe shelter, and other essential supplies, accompanying them on their journey towards recovery and renewed hope.

    We invite you to join us in prayer for the Nepal Flash Floods affected families and communities:

    1. Pray for Bereaved Families and Missing Persons
    Please pray for families mourning the loss of loved ones, that God would comfort them and bring healing to their grief. Pray also for those who remain missing, that they may be found quickly and safely, and that anxious family members would be strengthened with peace, hope, and endurance.

    2. Pray for Rescue Teams and Relief Efforts
    Pray for God's protection, wisdom, and strength for the Nepalese military and all emergency responders engaged in rescue and relief operations. Pray that damaged roads and transportation routes can be restored quickly, communication networks re-established, and relief supplies delivered promptly to families and communities in need.

    3. Pray for the Wellbeing and Health of Affected Families
    Pray that affected communities will have access to clean water, food, medical care, and other essential resources. Ask God to protect disaster-affected areas from disease outbreaks, bring healing to those who are injured, and watch over every child and family affected by this tragedy. May they experience God's presence, comfort, and grace amid uncertainty and hardship.

    May our prayers and actions together bring God's love and hope to disaster-affected communities, as we stand alongside the children and families of Nepal in their journey towards recovery.

  • A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia on 15 August, causing severe damage across East Nusa Tenggara Province. The disaster has resulted in casualties and injuries, while around 2,000 people have been forced to flee their homes. Ongoing aftershocks and damaged infrastructure continue to create significant challenges for affected families.

    World Vision Indonesia (WV Indonesia) has launched an emergency response, providing affected families with temporary shelter supplies, safe drinking water, hygiene kits, food assistance, and nutrition support. Psychosocial support and child protection services are also being provided to help children and families cope with the impact of the disaster.

    We invite you to join us in prayer for those affected by the earthquake:

    • Pray for God's provision for affected children and families, and that He would protect them, giving them strength, comfort, and hope.
    • Pray for effective assessment and coordination of relief efforts, so that assistance can reach the most vulnerable communities quickly.
    • Pray for the safety, wisdom, and strength of all World Vision staff and partners involved in the emergency response.
    • Pray for sufficient resources and funding to support ongoing relief and recovery efforts.

    May we stand alongside affected children and families through our prayers and support, bringing God's love and hope to communities as they recover and rebuild.

  • On 10 August, a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck Colombia, causing significant damage and affecting many communities. Numerous families have been displaced, and many children have lost access to homes, food, and other basic necessities.

    World Vision Colombia's emergency response teams are conducting needs assessments and preparing to provide emergency food, clean water, relief supplies, and temporary shelter to affected families.

    We invite you and your church to join us in prayer:
    • Pray for children, families, and communities affected by the earthquake, that God will bring them peace, comfort, protection, and the resources they need to rebuild their lives.
    • Pray for World Vision Colombia staff, volunteers, and partners, that God will grant them wisdom, strength, safety, and compassion as they serve those in need.
    • Pray for local pastors, church leaders, and their families, that God will strengthen and encourage them as they support and care for their communities.
    • Pray for healing and restoration, that those facing loss and hardship will find hope and experience God's love and care during this difficult time.

    As families begin the difficult journey of recovery, may God's love and compassion reach those affected through the prayers and support of the global Church.

  • On the evening of June 24, 2026 (local time), Venezuela experienced its strongest earthquake in over a century. The epicenter was located near Morón, a coastal town near the capital of Caracas. Within a brief span of 39 seconds, the north-central region was hit by consecutive powerful quakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5, followed by over 400 aftershocks. Currently, it has been confirmed that more than 3,300 people have died and over 16,000 are injured. Search and rescue operations are still racing against time.

    The powerful earthquakes caused countless houses to collapse, and the heavily hit La Guaira State saw vast stretches of streets flattened. Local hospitals, electricity, water, and gas supplies were completely disrupted. Survivors not only have to face the life-and-death trauma of losing loved ones and the psychological distress of seeing their homes destroyed, but they also face a bleak future with absolutely nothing left.

    Children are especially vulnerable in this disaster. In an instant, they lost their safe shelter, leaving them exposed to aftershocks and dangerous ruins, or even separated from their families. This has caused immense trauma to their young minds.

    Peter Gape, National Director of World Vision Colombia and Venezuela, stated: "The spirit of solidarity is making a real difference in Venezuela. Thanks to the efforts of World Vision teams, volunteers, churches, and partners, tens of thousands of affected people have already received assistance. However, the scale of this crisis is simply too massive, and we need continued support from all sectors. We will remain at our posts to ensure that every child and family receives the support they need, sees hope, and can rebuild their lives with dignity."


    World Vision's Emergency Response Operations

    World Vision immediately launched a comprehensive emergency response following the earthquake. Despite difficult conditions—including blocked roads and highly unstable communications—we are working closely with local churches and partners to go deep into the worst-hit areas to assess the damage. We are distributing emergency food, clean drinking water, and hygiene supplies, while also providing psychological first aid support.

    "Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere." (Ephesians 6:18)

    We earnestly ask brothers and sisters to lift up the affected lives and humanitarian relief efforts in your personal prayers, small groups, and church services:

    - Pray for the safety and peace of affected children and families: Pray that the Lord will personally protect and watch over the children who are separated from their families in fear, guiding them to be reunited with their loved ones as quickly as possible. Pray that the Lord heals the physical wounds of the survivors and comforts their hearts as they mourn the loss of their homes and families.

    - Pray for frontline rescue workers, volunteers, and World Vision staff: Many local staff members have been affected by the disaster themselves. Pray that the Lord grants all frontline workers abundant physical strength, keen wisdom, and steadfast resolve. Pray that the Lord protects logistics and communications so that relief personnel and resources can reach the most vulnerable survivors precisely and swiftly.

    - Pray for local pastors, church leaders, and the community of believers: Pray that the Lord strengthens the local churches, allowing them to become beacons of light and sanctuaries for the community amidst this disaster. Pray for the safety of pastors and their families, granting them overflowing grace to shepherd and support the weeping children and families affected by the tragedy.

    "So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith." (Galatians 6:9-10)

    Currently, the greatest challenge is a severe shortage of relief funding. The number of affected people is massive and widespread, and we urgently need to mobilize more resources to expand our relief operations. Vulnerable children and families are in grave danger. We earnestly invite you to remember the pressing needs of the survivors in your prayers, and to help these vulnerable lives pull through this crisis through your donations and care, witnessing Christ's love in the darkness.

  • The No. 5 alarm fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po has brought deep sorrow to our hearts. May the Lord of peace be with Hong Kong and every family, bringing healing and comfort to those affected. World Vision is committed to walking alongside the residents impacted by this tragedy. We are now partnering with Tai Po Baptist Church, which has long served the community, to provide holistic support—body, mind, and spirit. We invite you to join us in prayer:
    - For the fallen and the deceased: May the Lord remember the courage of the firefighter who gave his life and have mercy on those who perished. May He personally comfort every grieving family member and walk with them through this difficult time.
    - For the injured survivors: We thank God for His saving grace and pray for continued healing, physically and emotionally, through the treatment process.
    - For firefighters and rescue workers: Days of rescue efforts have left them exhausted. May the Lord be their strength and refuge, granting them peace and rest.
    - For residents as life gradually resumes: May God give them courage and strength to face daily challenges and mend broken hearts.
    - For peace in our city: This fire has shaken Hong Kong deeply. May the Lord reveal His justice and mercy, and may His peace rest upon this city, enabling us to move forward with hope even in sorrow.
    Through partnership with Tai Po Baptist Church and Faith Health Counselling and Training Centre, we are providing immediate assistance, including emotional support and childcare services. Please remember these efforts in your prayers. World Vision will continue to connect with various organisations to help those affected overcome this difficult time.

  • Our thoughts and prayers are with all children and their families affected by the devastating earthquake in Afghanistan on 1st September. We are heart-broken that at least 800 people have died and 2,000 are injured – with these figures likely to change as relief workers gain further access to affected areas.  The magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck 27 km south of Asadabad city, Kunar Province. Some villages are completely destroyed, with tremors felt across southeast Afghanistan and neighbouring countries.

    Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."

    Let’s earnestly pray for the vulnerable children and families affected by the earthquake:
    - Pray for timely providence to reach the casualties and affected ones – Lifesaving medical support / Emergency shelter / Food / Emergency water, sanitation and hygiene support / Protection for the unaccompanied minors.
    - Pray for God’s strong presence to bring comfort and strength to those who have lost their families and homes, especially the injured and terrified children.
    - Pray for wisdom and open doors to guide the work of World Vision and other humanitarian agencies to rescue, and restore hope for the future.
    - Pray for God’s mercy on this land to minimise the aftermath of the earthquake.

    On March 28, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, affecting multiple neighboring countries. The number of casualties is still being assessed, and World Vision is closely monitoring the latest developments. Our colleagues in Myanmar, as well as in Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos, also felt the earthquake and experienced the impact.

    We are deeply concerned about the effects of this earthquake on children and families in the affected areas. World Vision is currently conducting assessments in the disaster-hit regions to better respond to the urgent needs of affected residents. Together with our local partners, we are working to provide assistance to the most vulnerable.

    • May God guide the work of World Vision and other humanitarian agencies, grant them wisdom and strength to respond quickly to the needs of the affected children and families, and restore their hope for the future.
    • May God open the hearts of brothers and sisters in Christ that they would lend a helping hand to the affected. May God empower World Vision staff to serve as a living witness of His grace and mighty love to the suffering children and families

    The overthrow of the Assad regime has led to massive spike in humanitarian need. Hundreds of civilians have been reported killed or injured over the past 2 weeks. The latest bout of suffering follows 14 years of conflict and annual shortages of funding to deal with ongoing enormous needs. There are currently 16.7 million people in need in Syria, that is almost 70% of the total 24.3 million population. While across the region another 12.9 million Syrians - and people hosting them - need humanitarian assistance.

    Please pray for the affected and those involved in humanitarian works:

    • Claim God’s protection and healing over the displaced families, the injured, and the vulnerable women and children.
    • Ask for God’s tangible presence and love to reach the hearts of the despairs, during this cold winter.
    • Ask God to multiply current resources (food, clean water, public services, critical facilities like hospitals and power stations).
    • Claim God’s wisdom for World Vision and other humanitarian agencies to respond effectively to the needs of the affected.
    • Ask God to stir the hearts of brothers and sisters in Christ to support, where appropriate, as no gift is too small.

    Due to a mix of the impact of conflict, climate change and an economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, a food crisis is spanning across the globe. The war in Ukraine is also bringing profound impacts on world food supply, leaving more people on the brink of famine. More children are made prone to malnutrition, and may even be forced to work as child labour or married off in exchange for dowry. Such children will be permanently impacted physically, mentally and spiritually.

    Please pray for the vulnerable children and families who are starving worldwide:

    • We proclaim in the name of the Saviour Jesus Christ that with the earnest prayers of His people, God’s love, mercy and richness would overflow the nations, especially South Sudan, Somalia and Afghanistan.
    • We pray that God would protect hungry children, and heal those who suffer from malnutrition (both acute and chronic) and traumas.
    • We pray for an end to all ongoing conflicts, that civilians could return home and children be free from all forms of violence and enjoy school life and peace again.
    • May leaders and churches in various countries respond to global hunger relief proactively with fear of God and mercy for people, helping and providing for impoverished families together.
    • We pray for wisdom and resources for frontline humanitarians to meet the needs effectively.

    The situation in Ukraine is increasingly intensifying due to the recent armed conflict, which does not only cause immediate threats to more than 7.5 million children living in Ukraine, but also lead to hundreds of thousands fleeing from Ukraine to neighbouring countries. It is feared that as many as 5 million people could flee the country, causing immediate and long-lasting physical, emotional, and mental harms to children, families, and communities. Meanwhile, the crisis may lead to increased food and fuel prices, which will aggravate the existing food and economic crises and impact other countries, leaving more vulnerable lives at risk.

    Please pray for vulnerable children and families suffering from the conflict in Ukraine:

    • We proclaim in the name of the Saviour Jesus Christ that God’s love, peace, mercy and healing are with all vulnerable children and families suffering in the conflict.
    • We pray for those who lost their home and families, and are forcibly displaced. May God comfort their wounded heart, strengthen their faith and hope, and prepare shelter suitable for them so that they may get through this crisis safely.
    • We pray for more peacemakers, who, by relying on persevering prayers, worship and guidance of the Holy Spirit, will take part in resolving enmity and conflicts, thereby preventing Ukraine and more countries from greater humanitarian disasters.
    • We pray for all frontline humanitarians, especially the leaders, that they would be protected and carry out the rescue operations quickly and effectively with God-given wisdom, energy and resources, especially in keeping children away from harm when fleeing.
    • We pray for the churches that continue to stay in Ukraine. May they spread the love of Christ Jesus through their faith and actions, so that Ukraine and the whole world could see the good witness they boldly bear for the gospel. (2 Timothy 1:7)

  • Pray for the Fragile
    In recent months, the situation in the Middle East has sharply escalated, and the course of the conflict remains unpredictable. What is certain, however, is that tens of millions of children living amid the violence are facing displacement, psychological trauma, hunger, loss of education, and even the threat of death. Fear has seeped into every moment of their lives. With international humanitarian resources drastically reduced, more than 74 million people across the Middle East and Eastern Europe are in urgent need of assistance. Among them, one in three children is malnourished, and over 30 million children have lost the opportunity to attend school. Their childhood and future are being stripped away by war.

    2 Corinthians 1:3-4
    "3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God."

    We urgently call upon brothers and sisters to join in prayer for the children, families, and frontline workers in the midst of war:
    - Pray for suffering civilians: Asking our Lord to have mercy on His people, especially the wounded, the elderly, and children. May He be their refuge, covering them from fear and death.
    - Pray for peace in conflict zones: Asking our Lord to protect those living under constant alarms, granting them His peace, shielding them from harm, and allowing us means to provide food, clean water, medical care, hygiene supplies, and emotional healing.
    - Pray for rescuers and World Vision frontline staff in the Middle East: Asking our Lord to grant peace, wisdom, faith, and provision. Strengthen medical workers, aid staff, and World Vision frontline staff to bring healing and comfort to those who are suffering.

    At present, more than half of Afghanistan’s population (over 18 million people) is in need of humanitarian assistance. As a result of a severe drought and food crisis, 2.7 million people are facing starvation, while approximately 1 million children under 5 are acutely malnourished. In winter, snows may hamper the efforts to provide food aid. Furthermore, the country is potentially facing a new wave of COVID-19, which will put immense pressure on a health system that is already on the brink of collapse.

    Please remember people who are in desperate need of food aid and healthcare in Afghanistan:

    • May our God who richly gives us everything look after and provide for the needs of the people of Afghanistan, especially the children who are starving and being acutely malnourished. May He heal and comfort their vulnerable and fearful hearts.
    • May God demonstrate His deliverance and unfailing love through the work of humanitarian agencies and the words and deeds of local believers. May He always be with the people of Afghanistan.
    • Pray for the safety and strength of frontline humanitarians. May God protect them from attacks and harm, and grant them courage and wisdom to help the most vulnerable groups.
    • Pray for the situation of Afghanistan. We trust that the Lord is sovereign and that no disasters, authorities and sins can conquer our Lord.

  • Pray for the end of violence against children

    Over 1 billion children experience violence every year globally. Violence threatens their survival and health, robs them of their right to education, and causes short and long-term physical, emotional and social consequences. It is important to address these issues and offer counselling and assistance to the victims, so that they feel safe and have their immediate needs met.

    • May God heal and restore the lives of children affected by violence, helping them to deal with any physical, psychological or social hindrance brought about by violence.
    • May God provide care, health, psychological assistance, justice and support to children who have experienced the loss of a parent and/or sibling due to violence.
    • May God protect the children who live in countries with conflicts, or have experienced natural disasters recently.
    • May God bring shelter to the children that have been forcibly displaced.
    • May God protect all children from exploitation and harm, and let them experience His love.

    Many of the issues of violence, such as child labour, child marriage, child sacrifice, are prohibited by laws which, however, are not always enforced. Each one of us is called to speak out for orphans and the poor.

    • May God lead governments around the world to enact and endorse laws to protect children.
    • May God bring equality and universal access to education.
    • May God bring income and economic development opportunities to vulnerable households.
    • May God lead governments to create a strong labour market and a stable environment, so that child labour can be eliminated in the supply chains.
