Sustainability and Social Investment in Climate Change Mitigation Initiatives

Climate change is one of the greatest causes of poverty and hunger, and children are often the most affected. At World Vision, we are helping vulnerable communities through our flagship Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) approach, climate-smart agriculture, community resilience programmes, and environmental education.

Our efforts were recognised at the Sustainability and Social Investment Awards (SSI Awards) in Ghana, where we received three major honours, including the Best Company in Environmental Sustainability Project 2025, Best Company in Climate Change Mitigation Project 2025, and Humanitarian of the Year – awarded to Dr. Tinah Mukunda, National Director of World Vision in Ghana. These awards demonstrate our leadership in sustainable development and humanitarian service, and we are deeply grateful. Beyond climate action, the awards also highlight our significant investments in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). Under its current strategy, we have committed to protecting 1 million of the most vulnerable girls and boys from infection and disease by 2025, through enhanced access to WASH and health-care services. These interventions are vital in helping communities cope with the effects of climate change, including erratic rainfall and droughts that contribute to food scarcity and worsened health outcomes.

World Vision was further honoured as a “Benchmark Organisation for Leadership and Excellence in Social Impact”, a distinction reserved for institutions that set national standards in social development, community empowerment, and long-term sustainability. This recognition reflects our commitment to evidence-based, community-centered solutions that improve livelihoods and transform lives.

None of this would be possible without the dedication of our partners, donors, staff and community volunteers. Your support enables us to continue building resilience, protecting children, and creating lasting change in communities most in need.
