Dear Reader,

In mid-April, I travelled to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, with the Board and Committee members to oversee community-based projects supported by donors from Hong Kong. We had a tight itinerary, but there are three faces that I will never forget, and I would like to share their stories with you.

The first one is a young single mother. She is only 26 years old and is raising four children alone. The youngest is only two and the eldest is nine. They live in a poor ger area, and despite the hard life, her eyes are full of determination. I asked her what her biggest wish was, and she said that all her hopes were on her children, that they would grow up healthy. World Vision is helping her and many families alike improve their living conditions, and providing livelihood support so that they will no longer worry about their future.

The second one is a 4-year-old girl who lives in another ger next to the single mother. Her tiny face and hands were dirty and her nose was runny, but she was totally curious about us, the visitors, and ran over to say hello. Her innocence and enthusiasm touched me, but also made me realise that children like her need more care – clean drinking water, nutritious food, medical care, and education opportunities. World Vision’s Area Programmes are working to improve the quality of life of these children, giving them the opportunity to grow up healthy.

The third one is a disabled single father. Despite facing mobility challenges, he still manages to support his four children with his superb skills in leather sewing. Although his family is poor, there is no despair in his face. Instead, he is full of energy and hope. He also told us that he was taking courses in a Bible school. By providing him with suitable leather sewing and pressing tools, World Vision helps him improve the quality of his products and increase his income, allowing the family to gradually become self-sufficient.

Through these three faces, I truly felt that poverty cannot define a person, and real change comes from hope and action. World Vision’s work is not only about providing support, our work also empowers families and communities to help them live a life of fullness.

I would like to express my appreciation to every supporter for your dedication. Because of you, these families are heading towards a brighter future!

Yours truly,
