The global running event Global 6K for Water will be back in Hong Kong in no time!
Did you know that 2.2 billion people around the world still lack access to safely managed drinking water^? Every day, countless children and women walk an average of 6 kilometers just to collect water — often from unsafe sources that threaten their health. This daily burden also robs many children of the chance to attend school.
In response, World Vision launched Global 6K for Water in the United States in 2015. The event aims to raise funds for water-scarce regions, improve water facilities, and bring clean drinking water and hope to children living in poverty far away. Since then, countries across Europe, Australia, Africa, and Asia have joined the movement. Since its introduction to Hong Kong in 2024, the event has successfully allowed countless participants to enjoy the fun of sports while gaining a deeper understanding of the water hardships faced by people in impoverished regions, inspiring them to cherish water resources even more.
This year, the Asia series has already kicked off with vibrant events in Taiwan and South Korea, with Japan and other regions set to follow. Now, it’s Hong Kong’s turn in January 2027 — and we warmly invite you to join us. Let’s run together to bring clean water and brighter futures to children in need!

^ “Safely managed drinking water” is the highest standard of water service tracked under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 6.1). It refers to water that: (1) coming from an improved water source which is located on premises (e.g., piped water, boreholes, protected wells), (2) available when needed and (3) free of faecal and priority contamination.

Did you know? In households without their own water supply, women and girls are responsible for 80% of water collection.
