World Vision distributes aid packages to displaced children and families in Ukraine crisis

As the crisis in Ukraine intensifies, World Vision is concerned about the growing humanitarian and psychological needs of the affected children and families. World Vision is on the ground in Romania and start by providing emergency aid packages, water, and other basic supplies to children and families that have fled Ukraine.

According to the United Nations, since the conflict escalated, hundreds of thousands in Ukraine have already fled to neighbouring countries such as Romania, Poland, and Moldova.

As a child-focused NGO, World Vision is scaling up our operation in response to refugees entering Romania from Ukraine and plans to provide psychological first aid for children who have been traumatised by this conflict, as well as basic relief supplies for refugees.

Currently, our relief operation is mainly implemented by World Vision Romania at the border, and we are on the ground in Romania and start by providing emergency aid packages, water, and other basic supplies to displaced children and families.

World Vision has also expressed concern about children potentially being separated from their parents and families during displacement from their homes, exposing them to heightened risks of exploitation and abuse. As children have gone through the experience of fleeing and being separated from loved ones, we will also be providing psychosocial support for them, in addition to building on our significant local expertise in Romania to their education.

As needs emerge, we will scale up our response to other countries in the region where World Vision is present. We are also looking at supporting local partners in their efforts to reach more people inside Ukraine.

World Vision calls on members of the public in Hong Kong to support the affected children and families urgently. The funds donated to this appeal will support emergency response for the children and families affected by the crisis in Ukraine.
