Macau Famine 2023 has been successfully held

All Macau Famine activities this year, namely, Red Packet Campaign, Drawing Competition, Flag Day, School Famine, Charity Sale, Skip-A-Meal and 10-Hour Famine Camp, have been successfully held.

We thank all participants and volunteers for their active participation, and all our sponsors and supporting groups for their generosity in blessing starving children and families facing food shortage in Africa.

Famine activities may be over now, but the mission to help starving children goes on. We encourage you to continue to care for starving children and sow hope for them:

"Get Well Soon, My Little Brother."

Due to the conflict in her hometown in Somalia, 14-year-old Rahima lost her home and was forced to move to an internally displaced persons camp with her family. They have been staying in the settlement for 5 years already.

Not knowing when they could return home, Rahima and her family now also face food insecurity because of drought and skyrocketing food prices in the market. She just hopes her little brother would recover from malnutrition and measles soon. To help starving children and families in Somalia like Rahima, World Vision has been providing emergency food aid and nutrition support in the country.

School Famine

Hunger in developing countries is indeed a global issue closely related to us. Students can learn more about hunger and poverty through activities such as Famine talks, workshops and Rich and Poor Banquet. Schools are also encouraged to organise their own fundraising activities to support starving children.

Through Famine talks and workshops, students are engaged to discuss and learn about hunger issues.

By taking part in the Rich and Poor Banquet, students eat different meals to experience the gap between the rich and the poor.

Schools may hold a charity sale to raise funds for starving children.

Skip-A-Meal

A meal is precious in the eyes of starving children, because that may be the only meal they have for that day. Join Skip-A-Meal and donate the MOP100 (or more) you saved from a meal you skipped! You will be supporting World Vision’s projects in Africa to provide food aid, nutrition support, clean water and livelihood assistance for starving children and families facing food shortage.

In a Skip-A-Meal workshop, participants experienced how impoverished children and families maintain personal hygiene with limited resources through making a Tippy Tap together.
