Spring Charity Walk for Children ends on a high note

The Closing Ceremony and Prize Presentation of Spring Charity Walk for Children 2021 was held today (6 March). This year's walk has become a virtual one for the first time amid the coronavirus pandemic, enabling participants to choose their preferred physical activities and exercise at any time, any place between 20 to 28 February. The funds raised will support vulnerable children and families affected by drought.

The Spring Charity Walk for Children was organised by World Vision Hong Kong (WVHK) in association with The Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club. Ms Amy Fung, Chief Executive Officer of WVHK, expressed her heartfelt thanks to participants for their unfailing support at the ceremony.

“All of us are concerned about health issues for ourselves and our beloved ones during the pandemic. We might also feel stressed when experiencing the economic downturn. Therefore, I am truly grateful to each one of you, for your passion to help those in need on the other side of the world. With community water systems and clean water in place, families will be able to grow food again, and their children will no longer have to walk long distances to fetch water, but receive education and thrive instead,” Amy said.

Participants of the event were divided into three groups, including individual, family, and corporate, group and church. They exercised at their preferred time and place between 20 and 28 February, such as walking, jogging, hiking, cycling, yoga, workout or dancing, and raised funds to support children and families in Afghanistan.

Funds raised from the event will provide water supply facilities, food security and livelihood assistance in Afghanistan, aiming to assist children and families who have lost their livelihoods and homes due to adverse environmental conditions, helping them to rebuild lives, restore health and rekindle hope.

The event was sponsored by E-GO Mobility Limited, EPSON Hong Kong Limited, First Gold Charity Fund, Nikon Hong Kong Limited, Otsuka Pharmaceutical (HK) Limited, and Universe Printing Holdings Limited; and supported by Baby Kingdom and Sky Post.
