Spring Charity Walk for Children “Virtual Walk” ends on a high note

The Closing Ceremony and Prize Presentation of Spring Charity Walk for Children 2022 was held today (28 May). This year’s walk remained a virtual one amid the coronavirus pandemic, enabling participants to choose their preferred activities and exercises at any time, any place between 26 February and 31 March. The funds raised will support vulnerable children and families in South Sudan.

The Spring Charity Walk for Children was organised by World Vision Hong Kong (WVHK) in association with The Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club. Ms Amy Fung, Chief Executive Officer of WVHK, expressed her heartfelt thanks to participants for their unfailing support at the ceremony.

“Although the city has been hit by the fifth wave of COVID-19, we still hold on to our faith and join hands with members of the public to help those in need around the world. We are truly grateful to each one of you, and your generous support to this event and the children and families in South Sudan,” Amy said.

Dr Jack WK Wong, Charity & Outreach Committee Chairman of The Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club said, “Ever since the event was first held in 2008, The Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club has been fully supporting the Spring Charity Walk for Children initiative for 15 years. And the partnership between the Club and World Vision Hong Kong can be dated back to 2003. Family is one of the key pillars of Clearwater Bay’s Community Outreach & Charity Programme. We look forward to working with World Vision to bring love and care to the needy on a broader, and more far-reaching level and capacity.”

Participants were divided into two categories, namely individual and family, and corporate/group/church. They completed the steps and event challenges at their preferred time and place between 26 February and 31 March, and raised funds to reduce hunger, provide nutrition and livelihoods assistance and water facilities for children and families in South Sudan. Severely affected by natural disasters and persistent conflict in recent years, 60% of South Sudan’s population, or about 7.2 million people, are facing a severe food crisis and need the global community’s continued assistance.

The event was sponsored by 4M Industrial Development Limited, Chamonix Alpine Equipment, Hong Kong Disneyland Management Limited, HKFYG Organic Farm, Hung Fook Tong Group Holdings Limited, Ling Charitable Foundation Limited, Otsuka Pharmaceutical (HK) Ltd, Royal Park Hotel Management Limited, and Universe Printing Holdings Limited; and supported by Baby Kingdom, Lifenews HK, and Sky Post.
