Before the internship, I had limited
knowledge about World Vision, except for the 30-Hour Famine. During the five-week
placement, I visited different kindergartens, primary schools, secondary
schools, and tertiary institutions to attend various talks and experiential
activities. Through these experiences, I came to understand that World Vision's
main focus is to serve the most vulnerable children and their families who are
suffering and in need of help. I also realised that war, climate change and natural
disasters, and famines as a result, are problems that still persist today. I am
grateful to the staff at World Vision for giving me the opportunity to deliver
one of the talks, and for the rehearsals before the presentation, which are
encouraging, and have equipped me with valuable public speaking skills. I
believe these experiences will greatly benefit me when hosting morning
assemblies and weekly meetings in school in the future.
In addition, I also worked on the Ign!te e-newsletter, which has deepened my understanding of issues such as climate change, pandemics, and child marriage. Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to all the World Vision staff members. Each and every one of you has been incredibly friendly and helpful. I felt the love and support from everyone throughout the month, and I truly enjoyed every day of work in here. I sincerely wish all the World Vision staff a pleasant and fulfilling time with the organisation.
