Sudan Crisis: World Vision is responding to the needs of refugees

2023-05-30
Over 1 million people have been displaced since the armed conflict broke out in Sudan in April. World Vision Sudan’s teams have been carrying out food distributions since mid-May in South Kordofan and South Darfur.

Sudanese refugees have been forced to flee to neighbouring countries, such as Ethiopia, South Sudan, Chad and Central African Republic. World Vision teams in these countries have been responding to the needs of the refugees. Our response includes food, water, sanitation and hygiene and child protection support, and will be scaled up based on needs.

As these countries have already been embroiled in conflict, food insecurity and refugee crisis, the influx of a new wave of refugees is bound to increase the humanitarian needs there. We are most concerned about women and children, as they are often the most vulnerable to abuse and violence when on the move. We will be closely monitoring the situation and responding based on the needs of the refugee women and children, making sure they are adequately supported during this difficult time.
