Syrian Refugee Response

Children made up almost half of the Syrian refugee population. It is not hard to see children everywhere in a settlement like this one in Lebanon.

Yasmin (first left), 9, plays with her baby sister. She spends most of her weekday mornings in World Vision’s Child Friendly Space where she sings and learns. Sometimes, she teaches her younger siblings what she learned.

In the middle of the desert of Jordan stood the Azraq refugee camp – a camp that keeps expanding as more people flee from Syria.

In September 2016, Kevin Chiu, CEO of World Vision Hong Kong, visited Ahmad (third left) and his family in Azraq refugee camp. Ahmad explained that no matter where they go, all they want is a safe place and environment for his children.

“Around 90% children are in shock after the conflict, and they lost trust. We need to help them to build trust again,” says Ahmad who once ran a children centre back in Syria.
