Love and care begins with understanding. Step into a needy children’s world and see what they need:
- Every year, over eight million children die before the age of five, mostly from preventable causes
- In developing countries, one in every six children between the ages of five to 14 is a child labourer. In the least developed countries, the rate is as high as 30%
- It is estimated that over 75 million children do not receive primary education

The Ascites that Won’t Go Away – Prosper
Prosper is a 4-year-old boy living in Burundi, Africa. He suffers from serious malnutrition because he always goes a day without a single meal. His other four siblings are also displaying the same symptoms. Prosper’s mother said helplessly, “I don’t have any other hope except that some of my children will be able to grow up.”
Vivian’s Childhood in the Quarries
Seven-year-old Vivian, living in Ghana, has been working daily in the quarries since she was four. Her little hands must heft the heavy iron hammer to split stones, earning a meagre amount of money to support the family. Going to school is a dream of hers that seems impossible.
Monowara Hasn’t Eaten an Egg for a Year
Monowara lives in a shabby hut with his parents and two elder brothers. Since his father is disabled, his mother works as a daily labourer to support the family. They have only one meal a day – fried leaves with naan. This explains why Monowara and many other children in Bangladesh suffer from malnutrition.
