a table of delicious home-made food. Having provided with apple saplings and planting methods, farmers are able to develop their own business and improve their income by selling apples to local markets. Walking the road on which children travel to school on rainy days allows sponsors to better understand their determination for education. Sponsors visit a recently rebuilt primary school. Students are now able to study in classrooms installed with a solar heating system that allows them to have a more favourable learning environment in winter. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, students can now study in a classroom equipped with new chairs and desks. The tour not only allows sponsors to show their love and care for sponsored children in person, but also helps foster a fond relationship between them. One of the highlights of the visit is a traditional dance
performed by enthusiastic students. Sponsors and children have great fun in the games while
visiting a school constructed by World Vision. For many sponsors, the most unforgettable moments in the tour are being able to visit their sponsored children and play with them. The supporter tour gives sponsors a valuable opportunity to experience the lives of villagers and children in poverty-stricken regions. Although the tour is coming to an end, sponsors can continue to show their love and care for the children through the Child Sponsorship Programme.
see how Area Development Programmes operate in needy communities. During their visit to Samrong, sponsors learn about how chicken-breeding has increased the income of villagers, and how a diet of chicken and eggs has improved children’s health. Villagers are taught life skills, such as scarf-weaving, to help generate family income. As a result, their livelihood has improved and their children are able to attend school. Leadership training is an important aspect of community development. “Latrine facilitators” share how they promote public hygiene by encouraging their peers to build latrines in their homes. In Baribour, a women’s saving group shares their success stories
and explains to visitors how they function. Love transcends culture and language barriers. Sponsors, together with children
from a disaster prevention group, have great fun. A hygiene group performs a song on hygiene for sponsors. It teaches children about personal hygiene and promotes hygiene awareness among their peers. World Vision actively promotes AIDS prevention education and supports those affected by the disease. Sponsors receive a warm welcome during a visit to these children. Two children orphaned by AIDS share with sponsors how they have regained
self-confidence with the help of World Vision. This university student, who once suffered the trauma of AIDS and now earns a living
from his drawings, thanks sponsors for their generosity. On the last day of the tour, sponsors visit three needy families suffering HIV. The families are deeply moved by the gifts and care brought along by the sponsors. Project workers and sponsors have a photo taken together to offer gratitude for one another’s effort in creating better communities for children and their families. A big thank you to all!
